  3. womensweardaily: Vivienne Westwood Red Label RTW Fall 2012 This was a more grown-up collection than previous seasons, and the designer remained true to her sartorial roots with a surfeit of checks and tartan, as well as signature draping. There were tailored, plaid wool coats, fitted wool capes in dusky violet purple and gray Ikat prints, and long Edwardian jackets with velvet trim. Elegant, jersey draped dresses in pale gray and eggplant, sharp tailored suits in rich wools, and tartan pencil skirts added a smart and sophisticated air.

So spring’s retro kitsch of bustier tops and bad car interiors was out; a minimalist streak done in maxed-out silhouettes was in, at least at the outset.
